I've been using adobe premiere 6, 6.5, and 7(aka CS 1) for several years. I like the program along with after fx because of the various post production
work you can do with em

Huh, I thought premiere was the most popular editor on this board.
I started on Premiere back in the day, before moving on to Final Cut. In a case of bizarre fortune years later, I was the editor that first showed Premiere Pro 1.5's ability to edit HD to Dell, Sony, HP, and the Windows group (at the National Association of Broadcasters in Vegas). The truth was *at the time* the program couldn't really handle HD properly (even with the required third party plugins and the $10g PC they sent me). I realized that the gig landed at my door after several Premiere-only editors, never having HD experience, turned it away. Having been on FCP for a while, I assumed HD would be nearly as simple on the program I cut my teeth on. But everyday I was one worried step away from simply chopping the video on my g4 and then slapping an Adobe and Windows logo on it lol. Premiere has come a long way since then. I haven't messed with it's current HD workflow but I'm assuming they've gotten everything working well. I think it's a decent program - when i cut SD on it back in the day I was mainly hampered by Windows stability issues, not any issues with the program itself. With every update Premiere looks more and more like the FCP layout which sucks for Premiere fanboys that hate FCP. Despite that the subtle details are quite different and a matter of preference - I find FCP more intuitive to my personal needs. Unfortunately I never learned After Effects, though many people guess I'm good at it because of some of the whacky effects in NVP and Dogs. But that was all just done in Final Cut. i always wanted to learn AE though. I'm hopefully gonna learn motion with year. Photoshop cs3 is awesome as you can import HD Quicktime clips and edit them frame by frame with the standard gamut of photoshop tools. Anyway, don't have that much to say other than Premiere is OK, but Adobe rocks for giving me an awesome gig in Vegas.

I personally like Premiere more than FCP. FCP has some better features and it handles sequences lots better, but overall it feels more sluggish. Probably
because moving the timeline on the fcp is a royal pain. Also Apple takes ages to fix extremely important bugs like not being able to export image sequences
properly. Had to shell out to Automatic Duck and export everything through AE because FCP couldn't. It took them about 3 months to fix that simple little
bug.

How well does Premier CS3 handle feature-length sequences?

It handles them. I've been having some problems with the previous version (Premiere Pro 2) but I assume these little quirks have been fixed in the newest
CS3 patch.

Its funny that you asked about the programms after you got them, but anyway: totally love both and use them for about 9-10 years, never had any major problems
with it and I am still very satiesfied with the current versions. Did use AVID for some business jobs and it was VERY bad compared to Premiere - couldnt get
used to it.

Heh, I know what you mean about it being funny. I got both programs for free though, that's why I asked afterwards.
