Wow, I didn't really like the movie either, but I thought that review was a tad bit harsh.

did you check the comment about nicholas tse fall down the stairs was "ong bak style" lol, i mean ive only watched this movie once but to put this on
the same page as twins effect 2 and dragon squad is a joke.

Yeah this review is a total joke!!!
I like this movie, it's nothing great but it's entertaining enough with a great final fight. Got a lot of respect for how Nic Tse gives his all in the fights and stunts. Calling his fall from the stairs a simple roll is just bullshit, and if he knew more about HK movies he wouldn't name Tony Jaa but Jackie instead who was one of the first to show a stunt or move again! Even wonder if he really saw the movie naming Aaron Kwok as Jaycee father while he is his brother in the movie makes me think twice about his review, just like comparing it to Dragon Squad ( this one is crap) anyhow now i remember why i never visit the KFcinema side!! |

the rating is quite strange (would give it a 6/10 rating at least) but I agree with the reviewer mostly. the script, accompanied with great action scenes (far
more superior than Fatal Contact and Fatal Move combined), is very involving and might have touches here and there that sells but to me
everything fails big time because of Chan's overambitious attempt to go die-hard on the melodrama with his scrubby direction, the reason I never cared
about his movies at all (except Big Bullet which I give other people credit for).

I think Mark Pollard's wife left him or something. But I don't get why he would have such a vengeful passionate hate for Invisible Target and then give
Belly of the Beast a 4 and Daredevil a 3.5...

Damn, I thought I hated this movie, but now I know what real hate it is

It's a pretty dumb movie, but the fights and stunts were pretty good for the most part. I don't like the fact the Pollard didn't really give Tse
any credit for really putting out in this one. Simple roll down the stairs my ass...more like a 7 foot drop onto stairs and then a roll. I'd like to see
Mark Pollard do it if it's so simple. Nicholas Tse is doing stunts Jackie can't do now and that most action stars wouldn't do even in their prime.

Agreed, I really like Invisible Target and the work that Nic Tse is doing these days. A lot of people are still put off by his "pop star" image, but
they forget that people like Andy Lau and even Jackie to an extent are "pop stars" also. I don't think Invisible Target is a landmark in cinema
history or anything, but I think it's a very fun and solid action movie and deserves more credit than this review gave it. But like I said, Kung Fu Cinema
isn't really the best place for consistant, trustworthy film reviews.

Haha, that's the truth man.

I wonder what rating he gave New Police Story (if he's reviewed it yet), cause this movie is alot better in terms of action and story.

What the hell Mark? I had a blast watching Invisible Target, thought it had a good ammount of action(which was pretty well done) and had a good cast. If it
wasn't to his liking ok but two things: Was the wire-work really that excesive? And what's with the hate for Nick? He busted his ass and I thought he
did a damn good job(that stair fall could have crippled him). Mark wasn't this harsh when he reviewed To Kill With Intrigue(now that's an
abomination)!

Heh heh, man Dragonfighter, I thought I was the only guy that thought that Mark Pollard was getting a bit harsh on his film reviews, but he's starting to really throw some spitfire on 'em nowadays. Can we say that the wife comment is valid then? |

Hell, even Kozo down at LoveHKfilm.com didn't have as much hate for it as Pollard did, and they hate everything. (or at least, he's the most cynical
reviewer I know)

Hey Kindler, I have to agree with Mark that the wirework is excessive, and Nic Tse sucks big time. If it wasn't for his amazing performance in Time and
Tide I would say NIc Tse sucks in everything he's been in. And his martial arts skills are really weak looking. And I would watch To Kill with Intrique
any day over Invisible Target

The wirework was a little excessive, but I disagree about Nic Tse. I think he's demonstrated a lot of growth and his skills are pretty sharp for somebody
who didn't even begin as a trained martial artist/stunt person. He's also really gung-ho about doing things himself and always trying harder and more
dangerous stunts, which I respect. His last few action movies have been great. I'd probably rather watch Nice Tse than Wu Jing.

I got no problem with Tse. I actually really respect him and think he's good as a lead in anything (Time & Tide and Metade Fumaca are two of my
favorite films) I would've liked to have seen a bit more harder fighting than loose choreography and excessive wirework, but how is anybody gonna blame him
for trying?

He gave Silver Hawk 4/5 and that movie shouldn't score anything and yet he slates this movie so much. This deserves 3/5 for fights alone.
