A friend of mine is doing an indie zombie movie (with a proper budget and decent production values, to be submitted to contests and the like) and he wants me to do some stunts for him (for which I get paid, nice!) If possible, he would like for me to do a high fall at the end of the film. He's very lenient about all this and isn't going to ask me to do anything that is in any way unsafe or outside my skill area, and is looking to me to advise him as to what I can do.
OK, so, I've got a month or two to prep for this. What kind of pointers can you guys give me for high falls? The fall in question will involve me being backed out of a window or over a small ledge, and falling backwards over it to do the fall. Because of the concept of the film, the fall will need to be shot from the POV of the person pushing me, watching me from above as I fall from the ground, so there cannot be any crash mats 'out of shot'. I'm thinking it would be best to twist or flip in the air to spot the ground so I can time the impact? What differences come into the technique when falling from greater heights? (I don't yet know what height the fall will be from, or what my limits are - needless to say, I need to get training). Obviously I will put on every pad I own to do this, and I'm fairly scared
How would you seasoned stunt bods approach a commission like this?
