okay i recently got a new camera for christmas, and me and my friends made are first stunt film. but problem is when i save my videos as a VR video (video
recording) my computer wont read it, so i cant use computer editing. and when i saved it as a DVD i can only watch it on windows media player as a normal DVD
and i dont know how to save it to edit it. The Camera i have is a panasonic palmcorder VDR-D210 miniDV Digital camera. even when i finalize it my laptop wont
read it, and since i cant Save or Copy a video when i save it to DVD i dont no how i can edit it. can someone who might have had this camera or no how to work
them give me some pointers.

How do you import your footage?

Yeah make sure you're using windows movie maker to import your footage as "DV" .avi files. Otherwise you can't edit much of anything.

Windows Movie Maker or any other video capturing/editing software should give you the option of capturing as a raw DV .avi file. Look around in the options and
settings of whatever program you're using.
How do you connect your camera to your computer? Firewire, USB, AV cables? |

i have to put the disk in the computer. if i save the disk as a DVD disk it just allows me to watch it as a standard DVD disk, if i format it as a VR disk it
doesnt read. it
i recently ordered sony vegas edition 8 and i dont know if sony vegas lets you edit disks recorded on a Pannasonic camera ( however it does allow you to record on sony disks). like i said its a pannasonic D210 camera, I know editing is possible i just dont know what software it is compatible with. does anyone know? |

Dude, the reason everyone's getting confused is you said the VDR-D210 is a mini-DV camera which it's not, it's a mini-DVD camera... two completely
different formats!
I use mini-DVD as well as I have a Sony Handycam, what I normally do is to save the footage as a standard DVD disc. Then Ulead VideoStudio allows me to import footage straight from the disc to edit (I'd imagine most editing programs would let you do this). If your software doesn't let you do this, do a search for Freez DVD Ripper. This will allow you to rip your DVD to AVI or MPEG files which you will definitely be able to edit, and it's freeeeee

If you've got loads of hard disk space to store the footage on, I don't see why not
