Some parts were alright, like the sword stuff at the very beginning. But if that was the best fight scene from the film, I'd hate to see what the bad ones
looked like.

Very HK inspired though some of the connections look silly as well as some of the angles. I wish Tony Jaa would go in this direction with his fights. Some cool
sword stuff.

Agree with ywp this is the only good fight in the movie and even this one isn't really that good!
Jaa has it's moments in this fight but that's really it. |

Physically it was very impressive, it was just kind of dull. I think the way it was shot had a lot to do with it. But gatdamn, Jaa can flip.

I remember seeing this and being surprised that Tony Jaa was so lanky and floppy. He must've been, what, 18? But yeah... that guy can tumble like a mother f*cker.

This is Plook 4 I think, and the previous Plook films are all superior as movies and for action. There are some great old Thai films out there, I uploaded
clips of lots of them.

I vote Plook 1 as having the best Thai action ever.

I think the only reason I don't vote GML or GML3 is they're fullscreen. The Plook 1 VCD may appear fullscreen, but it's squished to fullscreen. So
you really are watching it in its original format, just squished horizontally.
I'm still trying to figure out why Panna's action sucked so badly in the years after GML3. Almost everything he did before that was pretty fantastic. Then suddenly he made garbage. Even when he met Jaa, he made crap.

So you really are watching it in its original format, just squished horizontally. Yeah I noticed that but the picture quality on the GML vcd is superior to the Plook vcd - I really hope they remaster these classics because the picture quality of these vcd's are pretty bad. I'm still trying to figure out why Panna's action sucked so badly in the years after GML3. Almost everything he did before that was pretty fantastic. Then suddenly he made garbage. Even when he met Jaa, he made crap. Yeah this is strange, maybe his situation was like Sammo in the 90's because Sammo made some excellent fight scenes in his films in the late 80's but a lot of them were box office flops and were being totally outshined by Jackie's films at the same time, so Sammo in the 90's I think tried to make different type of movies (Moon Warriors, Blade of Fury etc) in order to excite the audience with more variety - this is a bad thing for fight choreography fans like myself and I don't think he should have changed. Maybe this is the same with Panna, his movies are relatively unheard of, and it only seems to be middle aged taxi drivers or food stall workers who buy his older movies in Thailand - obviously he had little success - or maybe there is some bizarre other reason!

The tumbling is pretty good in this fight. I may even prefer some of the sword fight choreography in the other fights in the film. It's true that overall, this film is nowhere near Panna's best fighting. I'm still trying to figure out why Panna's action sucked so badly in the years after GML3. Almost everything he did before that was pretty fantastic. Then suddenly he made garbage. Even when he met Jaa, he made crap. I'm not entirely sure, either. Part of me wants to agree with Graeme & just say that for whatever reason he ran out of steam. I mean, even
Panna's recent films re-use a lot of ideas from his older ones (Born to Fight is largely comprised of stuff from GLM, Plook, and Sing Wing Lui while Ong
Bak re-uses a lot from GML & GML3). Part of me also wonders if after a while, Panna took more of a back seat & let his crew do the choreography. His
last few films, Panna's been credited as things like Action Supervisor, while his senior members are credited with the actual choreography & direction.
Maybe it's been like that longer than we realize.

Compared to Battle Warrior(or whatever the real title is) this movie is a masterpiece. Expected more from Panna and Tony but not all bad.
"Plissken, what are you doing?"
