It got all of Sammos trade mark choreography put into one long fight scene and even ken Lo gets to do some of his trade mark kicking!

I know a lot of people don't really like this fight, but i like this one a lot. If you forget the fact that Jackie gets doubled a lot in this fight, there
isn't much wrong with this one.

There are snippets of gorgeousness here and there, but there are EXTREMELY sloppy stretches here and there that splotch what would otherwise be a classic
fight, I think.

yeah in fact that Jackie got injured in Rumble in The Bronx (which was the movie before Thunderbolt) thats why he was doubled heavily in this one
but yeah its still an interesting fight

it wasn't just injury; the production ran way over budget and behind on the deadlines they had to hire six units shooting around the clock. Jackie
wasn't there for a lot of it.

The fighting through the whole scene is great. You think they did the choppy-effect on the tattooed men fight because of the doubling? I noticed it was
especially easy to see the double then.

You could see the double through out the whole fight, i think Sammo just went with that effect because he put all his trade mark technics into this fight.

I heard the editing was choppy during the battle with the tattoo guys because their ding-a-lings kept flying about throughout the shots.
That's the word on the streets, at least. |

"i think Sammo just went with that effect because he put all his trade mark technics into this fight."
That "effect" is done to fix glaring problems with continuity, speed (if they forget to undercrank), or some other things they can't fix in the editing room. If they do slow motion choppiness, usually that means they didn't think to shoot it in slow motion (or didn't want to), and later realized/decided it should be slow and had to slow it in post. I doubt Sammo did it for "effect".

Sammo has used this as a effect in other movies and not to make up for something but really to change the look of the fight. In Ashes of Time it's used in
all the fights and in Don't Give A Damn it's also used for a moment when Biao is about to fight the 2 western guys in the final there it's used to
put more tension in the fight!
