New Test fight (with a girl) |
Lead | |

Been a while since my last test fight. but yeah... Anthony has done 2 films with me so far but it's the first time I've got him to go through the
motions.... and Chelsea it was her first fight scene and she's never had any martial arts training. Anyway here it is.

I enjoyed the beginning Dialog. Anthony's pretty funny in this one. The fight didn't hold my attention much to be honest. The camera work didn't
contribute as much as it could of for the fight. Not really anything new to say that hasn't been said for your other videos. Kinda just seems like your
usual stuff. Just better humor.

have experience, can always see what kinda of camera work would contribute to making them look even better on film. A better attitude to what the final result
is, leads to better performance on the next one.

I don't think he means physical styles... the camerawork is pretty much exactly the same in all your films, while you're working everybody harder on
trying to look good in bad angles. By improving your shots you could make the same techniques look a lot better.

I see.. different shots.. ok I'll try that

panning. You do that enough as it is

DevinWho wrote: Well that's kinda my camera style. Even still I didn't a lot of it in this one due to not having an extra person for camera... there were more tripod shots used in this one for that reason.

Please stop pyramid quoting. If you quote 4 or more of the past posts, that's pyramid quoting. It's in the forum rules. Thank you.

I really did enjoy the comedy at the beginning. The fight itself looked like your usual stuff. It didn't look bad or good to me, just kinda average though.
I'll have to agree with the others when they say to work on the camera angles and stuff. Personally, I'm not a fan of all of the moving camera work
that a lot of people seem to employ in their movies (but again, that's just personal preference) Like Devin said, since you're working with beginners,
you should definitely take this time to experiment with EVERYTHING (camera angles, choreography, editing style, composition)

I don't like the comedy.
Fight was similar to your other stuff but I did like the kicking part at 1.36 She can't kick though, reminds me of me a little but worse because she can't kick above waiste height it seems but she gave it a good go. It was edited well but the pace is still too slow.

stuntpeople wrote: Sorry Eric. Darren the problem with constantly panning is because all it does is give the feeling your running circles around 2 ppl fighting. As Manny taught me,
don't choose a camera angle because it looks cool. Choose one to convey a specific feeling to the audience. Study the new TI short. Notice how the only
times the camera actually moved as if walking was when the fighters would switch positions. Most of the time it was stationary, even if it turned.

Just because people are moving doesn't mean you have to pan. Seriously. LOOK AT EVERYONE ELSE'S FIGHTS. Even if they are moving rapidly, the camera
stays stationary and just pivots and turns. It never leaves its spot. And Look at Lesters work, He doesn't pan much (if all. I dont recall seeing him pan).
You don't have to be far away to get the shot. Like I said. Go out of your comfort zone and try new things

Graeme may be a beginner at fight choreography, but he has just as good an eye for action as anyone else on the board. If you're going to argue against
critiques, then stop posting videos, or post them in the "Rants" section where you can argue until someone gets sick of it. I stopped commenting on
your videos not because I don't think you'll listen to me, but because you don't seem to appreciate what some others say. It's a disrespect
toward the board that nobody appreciates.

Greame you are way to hard on beginners and yet you are a beginner yourself. And I'd give her some credit True but that doesn't matter, I am just being honest. I've watched so many fights in my time, mostly from Hong Kong and I am perhaps more critical than others because I've seen so many and I'll be the first to admit that my first short was absolutely terrible, and your fights are too slow and the reactions seem unrealistic and the timing is well off, and it is unintentionally funny at times. I give you praise where praise is worthy, your editing skills are very good, I like most of the camera angles and you are a capable fighter but perhaps need to get in shape a bit more. When I posted my first short I received an extreme amount of criticism, I took it on board and the things i've shot since (yet to show people yet) are so much better because of the help I received from the criticism. Sop defending yourself so much, listen to the criticisms and try and do better. I'm sure you're giving it your all but you just appear to being unable to handle anything negative said about you or your fighters. You can improve, and i'm sure you will - but everytime I comment on one of your videos, you'll just quote me and defend yourself.

I have been listening to all your guy's critiques. Of course I defend myself for some circumstances I'm put in but I still take in everything that
everyone on this board has had to say. And I've used quite a lot of it. I've appreciated every comment that was fair in this. The only comment I argued
with was when I felt he was putting down Chelsea because she does have quite a bit of skill for someone with no training than Greame was giving her credit for.
I still respected and appreciated his comment. I even thanked Devin in one of my replies.

What I'm meaning is when exchanges happen one guy is driving the other back and most of the times with my fights that leads to pushing the person out of frame. That's when you are forced to pan. And I tried that pivot and turn thing in Rogue Hunt and EVERYONE hated it. So I have tried it and it didn't work before.
