looks good to me. i kinda feel this series with daniel craig is the sincere (should i say "tru-skool") evolution of the once-great blockbuster
action movie like die hard, terminator, etc.

eh... I'm a james bond fan and it didn't do it for me.... wasn't a fan of casino royale.... I loved the days when Bond used gadgets... yes it was
cliche and unrealistic... both those movies were fun as hell... I'll still go to see this being that I am a bond fan through and through

Bond is at his best when he doesn't rely on too much gadgets. The series didn't start that way, so there's no reason why it needed to be that way.
Casino Royale brought Bond back to square one, and until then there hadn't been a really, really, really good James Bond movie since the first couple of
Connery films. GoldenEye came close though, but Casino Royale outclasses it by far.

Looks a lot better than Casino Royale, which I hated and wasn't as good as the previous Bond movies.
This one looks more Bond-ish and I like seeing him use gadgets, treat women like objects and just be manly and respect worthy!

Not to mention Q is such a cool character... his scenes bickering with 007 are so entertaining... especially the one in GoldenEye. I was just want to see Bond doing what Bond does, kicking ass, womanizing, using cool shit, and using witty remarks to everything.

I agree with Derek. Casino Royale definitely outclassed the other Bond films because frankly, it didn't make an ass out of itself. The James Bond films, to
me, have always been like that one guy in the group that thinks he's really cool and funny, when in actuality people just think he's ridiculous and are
laughing at him, not with him. They're both fun, but don't really have a whole lot of substance. Casino Royale depicted a much more realistic, while
still stylized and entertaining, portrayal of a "super spy." Instead of just walking around in a tuxedo flirting with women, being a smartass, and
winning fights with a karate chop, Daniel Craig's Bond was the cynical hardass that it would take to be a real spy of any kind of quality. He had a whole
wardrobe, an incredible arsenal of deadly athletic skills, and well, he was still a smartass. He solved problems with his wits and his balls (literally).
As for the fights, shame on you. Casino Royale has some of my favorite non-Asian fight scenes of all time. It's not a martial arts movie... you shouldn't expect everything you watch to be loaded with fights, Darren. But there were fights, damn good ones, and there were foot chases and car chases and shootouts and weapons fights and hot girls and fast cars... what the hell is there to complain about?! I also feel like it's the best James Bond story. While not really all that plausible, it performed its duty with a kind of unabashed humor and didn't get just plain ridiculous like some other Bond movies, with secret bases inside volcanoes and in outer space and with people with metal teeth and such. It was just lowkey enough for the viewer not to be rolling their eyes the entire time and still crazy enough to put Bond into all the situations he needs to get out of. AND I LOVE IT G'DAMMIT. |

WOW. I'm VERY impressed. I was a HUGE fan of Casino Royale, I really felt like it brought something new to the table.

Bond used Jujitsu since Dr. No.... Goldfinger has a whole conversation about Judo. I didn't say there were no fights... I actually like the hand to hand fighting in Casino Royale... but they were so far and few between. Seriously... who can't me films like this suck. Goldfinger The Spy Who Loved Me Man with the Golden Gun You Only Live Twice GoldenEye Live and Let Die From Russia With Love Thunder Ball These were all over the top in action and yet some of these are the classic Bond films. It's what makes them charming. They took the secret agent angle and made it a fun little action film where different rules apply and realism isn't the focus.... not every film has to be realistic... lots work as escapism and were merely sent out to entertain. Also remember the times Bond was made.... this over the topness was part of the 60s and 70s and really wasn't meant to be taken seriously. All the later ones thrived off that... you may not like films like Tomorrow Never Dies or Die Another Day... but those were true love letters to the hard core old school Bond fans like myself. These unrealistic qualities for Bond started after they couldn't get the rights to use the books anymore after Fleming died. So they had to make their own stories which was good because I hate all these adaptations from books that never do justice... so why not give them their own flare. That's what they did.... sure there are some real bad ones like World is not enough for your eyes only view to a kill (oh god!!!) license to kill (dear god!!!) Diamonds are forever But most of the bond films are entertaining and fun to watch as great thrill rides not as in detph spy dramas like bourne

How did Casino Royale out class the others... there was hardly any action... most of it was a damn poker gameObviously you're neither familiar with the fact that Casino Royale was the first James Bond novel and that much of the story is taken up by a card game as in the movie. you may not like films like Tomorrow Never Dies or Die Another Day... but those were true love letters to the hard core old school Bond fans like myselfNo offense but that's plain wrong. Die Another Day shat on the entire series in one blow. Old school Bond fans like Dr. No and From Russia With Love, 2 of the least gadget heavy Bond films ever. No true Bond fan should ever like Die Another Day, I'm revoking your license to call yourself a "hard core old school Bond fan" as a real hard core old school Bond fan. Points off for including The Man With the Golden Gun and Live and Let Die in your favorites. I've read the books sunny boy. Don't think you know more about Bond than I do, because you don't. Bond basically doesn't age through all of the series so there was no reason to back track.Yeah, there was. The gadget and cliche filled Bond films were killing the series. Thank God for Casino Royale. It fixed the mess that DAD created all in one swipe. there was hardly any actionThat's bull. Bond did more real fighting than he ever did in more recent Bond films. The only good Pierce Brosnan Bond fight is the one in GoldenEye. Casino Royale showed Bond fighting like a pro who knew what he was doing.

I don't think that all movies have to be realistic. But I'll take stylized realism over campy, ridiculous bullshit anyday. Especially in films with
more realistic subject matter (spies, espionage, guns... those are all cool enough without seeing Amazonian warrior women, watch lasers, and helicopters in
briefcases. That's like Get Smart shit).

I was just want to see Bond doing what Bond does, kicking ass, womanizing, using cool shit, and using witty remarks to everything. The series eventually boiled down to that checklist literally for decades. I'm sure for "real" Bond fans, who have actually been alive in the 70's and 80's, the latest re-boot is a welcome change. |

Sean Connery nailed Bond pretty well in the earlier Bond films, then things got sillier and sillier. Roger Moore didn't even bother. Timothy Dalton got it
right, but the movies he did were just okay. Pierce Brosnan was sort of the perfect popular Bond, but then the movies just got silly again. You'd think
after all the bad Bond films they'd figure out not to make Die Another Day. The Daniel Craig films are getting it right. Bond should be a cold near
ruthless killer, with some wit. Gadgets are ok, but that shouldn't be the main draw. I liked seeing Bond do things like use a strand of hair or talcum
powder to see if anyone had been through his room.
Besides to claim you're a hardcore Bond fan also means you know about the books. I'm tired of people yelling about gadgets when the first 2 Bond films weren't 2 gadget heavy, and the books never used gadgets approaching on science fiction. As I said, I don't mind some gadgets (which they probably are bringing back eventually), but it was distracting from the rest of the movies. The cliches weren't allowing the filmmakers to make a good movie anymore. So for Casino Royale they exorcised all of the cheesy stuff and made a real movie, not just a collection of predictable and recycled scenes, and they managed to do it while adapting the novel in a fairly good way.
