Thanks guys. This was really fun to make.

This was actually made for my Production Synthesis class for Theatre Arts at SDSU. We were to do a presentation on adapting Buffy the Vampire Slayer to the theatre. We were assigned groups and when we first met, I told them that they should utilize my skills and they welcomed that notion. I told them that I had an idea about making a PSA on how to kill vampires because I did a similar one with zombies. They agreed and we shot it in three days and I edited within days. We were set to present on Tuesday the 25th, being one of the last two groups left. Prior to class, I was really nervous and the day started off in a bad way, with some personal issues lowering my morale. So I was pretty emo, confused and anxious which caused me to skip one of my classes. Then the time came to do our presentation and so we did our power point pitch, talking about costumes, music, backdrops, lighting, etc. then we did a staged reading of part of our "buffy-inspired" play which segwayed into our video.

The hard work paid off as the movie totally went over. They absolutly loved it. Everyone laughed at the right parts and they were impressed with the production value. After our presentation, we had a questions and comments forum and most of it was directed towards me. Keep in mind, most of the people in the class are actors and performance emphasis theatre majors. People kept saying how professional it looked and how it looked like a real movie. People were asking if I owned all the equipment, if I did all the shots and what not. Then one girl raised her hand and told me that if I needed an actress, I should contact her. After she said that, a few more followed and offered their acting services as well. Three people gave me their contact info, the teacher told me that I am gonna be his videographer from now on, one girl had a business proposition for me, and another girl messaged me asking if I can help her film a short movie for one of her classes.

Most of the people in that class didn't know who I was and what I've done before showing this video. Most of them weren't too friendly or welcoming in the past year I've been in the theatre department. But because of that video, I think I finally gained their respect.

I won that day.


Kurt (dragonfighterx), the crane type shot was done with an actual camera crane. I have an 8 ft. one, and it's pretty badass.

Darren, professional movies break the 180 degree rule all the time. Shaun was the one who encourged to break the 180 because he thought that the Au Batido looks better when facing the camera. I noticed that you always call it out on people's movies. Is that the only cinematic "rule" you know?

RobP, I was lucky enough to get help from one of my friends who is in the film department. He offered to get the professioanl lighting equipment from checkout, so we used two 650s and a 1k with a set of flags and diffusers, which was more than enough to get good lighting and highlights for the shoot.
